Alfred Hitchcock declares and says:
I have been employed in the motion picture industry since 1925, during which period of time I have directed more than fifty photoplays, many of which I have produced as well as directed, both in the United States and in Great Britain. I have been employed by most of the major motion picture producing and distributing companies, including Gaumont-British Pictures, Ltd., United Artists Corporation, RKO Pictures, Inc., Paramount Pictures Corporation, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Warner Bros. and Universal Pictures Company.
In 1940, I directed the motion picture Rebecca, which won the Academy Award for the Best Picture of the year and which was also nominated for Best Direction. I have since that date received several other Academy Award nominations for Best Direction, including Lifeboat (1994), Spellbound (1945), and Psycho (1960).
During the last ten years, I have been executive producer on 273 half-hour and 90 one-hour television films broadcast from coast to coast over the facilities of Columbia Broadcasting System and National Broadcasting Company; each of which television films has not only borne my name preceding the title but also a caricature of my likeness which has become a personal trade-mark.
Since 1948, I have been accorded the following possessory presentation and production credit in both motion picture and television films:
